在一片茂密的森林裡，有一位大樹爺爺。雖然已經三百多歲，可他依然枝幹粗壯，樹葉茂盛，身體非常健康。

可是有一天有許多的蟲子爬到了大樹爺爺的身上，它們在大樹爺爺的身上亂啃，大樹爺爺一點辦法也沒有，傷心地哭了。這時啄木鳥醫生飛來了，它對大樹爺爺說：“您別急，我來幫您來捉蟲子。”只見它在樹幹上東敲敲，西敲敲，不時出樹洞裡捉出許多蟲子。不一會兒整個大樹上的蟲子就被它吃完了。大樹爺爺可高興了，它對啄木鳥說：“謝謝你，我現在舒服多了。”啄木鳥回頭說：“不用謝，這是我應該做的。”大樹爺爺開心地笑了。
