一個青年丟掉了工作，身在異鄉的他四處寄求職信，但都石沉大海。一天，他收到了一封回信，回信人斥責他沒有弄清楚該公司所經營的專案就胡亂投遞求職信，並指出求職信中語句不通順，藉此把青年好好地嘲笑了一番。青年雖然有些沮喪，但他覺得這是別人給他回的第一封信，證實了他的存在，而且回信人在信中的確指出了他的不足。為此，他還是心懷感恩地回了一封信，裡面對自己的冒失表示了歉意，並對對方的回覆和指導表示了感謝。幾個星期後，青年得到了一份合適的工作，錄用他的正是當初回信拒絕他的公司。
