路遙圍繞著主人公孫少安與孫少平兄弟兩個在這個平凡的世界中不斷衝破困難的阻礙，最終獲得生命中的成功，譜寫了一曲充滿活力、激情的生命之歌，以一幕幕催人淚下的苦難所向人們揭示了人生的自強與自信、奮鬥與拼搏、挫折與追求、痛苦與歡樂。
