讀完這篇小說，我發現，老人的故事不僅象徵著人與自然的關係，而且象徵著整個人類堅不可摧的精神。在現實中，他雖然失敗了，但在精神上，他卻是勝利者。在這裡，老人不僅僅是代表著一個人，而是代表了一股力量，一種精神，那是讓人敬佩的堅韌不拔，永不服輸的精神。我也十分佩服小說中老漁夫的意志,他讓我懂得了一個人一定要堅強，不能遇到一點挫折就敗退，這樣永遠也做不成一件事。
