中考英語詞彙易混淆知識點整理複習
1.try to do/ try doing
try to do 和try doing 兩者意義不同，區別在於：
(1)try to do sth.努力去做，盡力做=try ones best to do
He tried to climb the tree.他試著努力爬那棵樹。
(2)try doing sth. 指嘗試做看看，有何結果，暗示在這之前已試過
某種方法但不奏效，另試其他方法。
If no one answers the door, why not try knocking the back door?
如果沒有人開門，為什麼不敲後門看看呢？

2.till/ until
這是一組困繞初中生的連詞，它們既可作連詞又可作介詞，其用法歸納於下：
(1)用於肯定句中，意為到（的`時候）為止，謂語動詞一般是延續性的，
表示動作一直延續到till(until)所表示的時間為止。如：
Youd better stay in bed till tomorrow.你最好臥床到明天。
We worked till/ until lunch time.我們一直工作到吃午飯的時間。
(2)用在否定句中，意為直到才，表示謂語動詞的動作直到till/ until
所表示的時間才發生。如：
I didnt know the fact until I read your letter.我讀了你的信後才知道真相。
She didnt go to bed till/ until she finished her homework.
昨天晚上她做完家庭作業才睡覺。
(3)用於句首時，只能用until,不能用till。如：
Until he was 16, he had never been away from his village.
十六歲以後他才離開家鄉。

(4)在下列句型中只能用until, 而不能用till。
A. 在倒裝句中
Not until 9 oclock did the meeting begin.直到九點鐘會議才開始。
B.在 It is not untilthat強調句型中。如：
It was not until the bell rang that the students stopped talking.
直到上課鈴響了，學生們才停止談話。

3.thanks for/ thanks to
(1)thanks for 表示因為而表示感謝。
Thanks for your help. 謝謝你的幫助。
(2)thanks to 有兩種意思，作為非慣用法，其一意為對的謝意，
thanks作名詞用；其二意為多虧了。例如：
Please give my thanks to your parents.請轉達我對你的父母親的謝意。
作為慣用法，意為因為、多虧。如：
Thanks to space satellites, the world itself is becoming a much smaller place.多虧有了太空衛星，世界自身才變得小多了。

5.towards/ to
這兩個詞都有向、朝、對於之意，但用法不同。
(1)towards 表示向著某個方向，沒有到達之意。如：
They saw a dog coming towards them.他們看見一隻狗朝他們走過來。
(2)to一般接在comegomovereturn等動詞後,表示向、往,有到達之意。如：
It was raining when I came to school this morning.
